BluRay The Future

In this section you will find a Progressive List of the films that The Team of DVD Archive have sat and watched, either one to one, with each other, or, which have been obtained to watch for a later date.

The simplest reason to give for this sudden change in Formatual Presentation, is that there are so many movies being converted onto BluRay, from film studios all over the Globe, or film companies now using BluRay as a “Fixed” part of their camera equipment for the successful altering of “Angles”, “Easter Eggs” or even “Narration”. The “Special Features” in many films these days take up so much Data, that more times than any, the Director decides to put the film out on release under the “BluRay” banner. This way he/she may give the viewer that much  more to see.

Experiencing BluRay for the first time [if you have always watched DVD5 or DVD9] then BluRay will be “Wowing”, especially as all BluRay films come with some kind of 5.1 Surround Sound or THX enhanced stream. The picture is much clearer than the old DVD5 and DVD9, as well as more “Up Close & Personal”. With cartoons the graphics can be seen “Rendered” while at the same time, the explosions are more life-like and realistically explosive, opposed to the DVD5 and DVD9 quality where some of the picture is replaced with fractal-light or white-out hiss. This is, of course, known as “White Noise” and with BluRay, the design of the quality has pretty much got the poor quality licked.

With 25 Gigabytes of Data streaming at almost 500 Megabytes a second, it would be hard for the human eye to see any form of inacuracy. That is why we have decided to place a BluRay Archive List. Of course, there is the odd film that has been left the same, or maybe changed just slightly because of the age of the movie. For example “Nosferatu” was polished slightly to get rid of the jerky impurities, while “Mary Poppins” was filter cleaned to perfect restoration, or so it would appear.

There is a great hope out there that the future of films on disc will be that of BluRay, with the added DVD Digital Copy that accompanies the huge data disc. Many believe that the days of the DVD5 and DVD9 are over, but it is still only early days yet and the phasing out of normal discs is not upon us all yet.
