IMDB Said:
“The Joneses”, a social commentary on our consumerist society. Perfect couple Steve and Kate Jones, and their gorgeous teen-aged children Jenn and Mick, are the envy of their posh, suburban neighborhood filled with McMansions and all the trappings of the upper middle class. Kate is the ultimate trend setter – beautiful, sexy, dressed head-to-toe in designer labels. Steve is the admired successful businessman who has it all: a gorgeous wife, big house and an endless supply of high-tech toys. Jenn and Mick rule their new school as they embody all that is hip and trendy – cool clothes, fast cars and the latest gadgets. But as the neighbors try to keep up with the Joneses, none are prepared for the truth about this all- too perfect family. Written by Publicist

In the UK, there is a saying that is used to those people who compete to be “Fashion Victims” while all around them other people spend thousands of pounds trying to out-do them. Keeping Up With The Joneses, is by far the most wasteful past-time you could ever think of doing with your life. In “The Joneses”, starring Demi Moore and David Duchovny, the world is taken piece by piece, but not before [Unless you have viewed the trailer] you are sat wondering whether the new family on the block are in the “Witness Protection Programme”, or part of the C.I.A.
When we sat down and watched this film, we thought that “Californication” had entered the room, with both Duchovny and his step-daughter amost getting it on together. It isn’t you find out that the family of Joneses, aren’t who they seem to be, and even when you discover their secret, it only makes the film more interesting to watch till the end.
We found that The Joneses, is funny, serious when it needs to be and, it opens up a whole new perspective on the force-sale techniques that are around the United States today. All in all this was a great evenings viewing and will most probably be watched for a second time when the time is obtained to view it. Demi Moore’s character is strong, with the die hard sales attitude. Duchovny, too, is transformed into this saleman that will stick with something as far as it not causing pain or harm to the people around him. Gary Cole (The Pineapple Express) throws in a very entertaining, but at the same time saddened and explanatory journey on the road to ruin.
We would recommend this film for the people who enjoy their films fluid, and a little unpredictable, too, as the twists and turns in The Joneses are few and far between there are some unexlained questions awaiting the viewer by the end of the movie. We will have to wait for the Full Synopsis, or await one of our own to compensate.
The DVD Archive Rating:
8/10 For good evening viewing.
