The DVD Archive Said:

We looked this BluRay out to watch, simply because the night before we had sat through the extended HD/BluRay Edition of Top Gun (1986), and thought “What the hell”.  At first, it was understandable that the Titanic was going to sail again across the oceans, as we have been threatened with this idea that a sequel would do the original prequel justice!  Who ever said this was absolutely nuts!

Titanic II, released through the Asylum Studios, is what we consider being a Double Squeezed Flick.  Starting off as Titanic, it isn’t long before it switches to “The Possiedon Adventure”, with not just Iceburg’s endangering the ship, but also Tsunami’s.

We found the spot on acting by Bruce Davison as James Maine, was considerably passable among the other cast members that seemed uncomfortable and unrelaxed during filming.  The CGi & Special Effects are mediocre, but, as this is an Asylum Production, what does one viewer expect?  As a production company, Asylum are very punctual when releasing new films, but on the other side of the scope where ideas and creations are made, the whole “Re-Vamping” thing that they do with certain titles are near always considered “B-Movies”.  Not necessarily bad movies are classed as “B-Movies”, because now more than ever The SyFy Channel are honoured to show them with pleasure.

Titanic II is a film that could be shown anytime of day [except for editing the few lewd words, but nothing as bad to classify the film a non-family movie.  The initial action scences that are sometimes cheesy can cause a little perturbment, and the stunts that have people thrown about the boat are a little underated as to being graphic injuries.  The cast is watery, though they carry off the end rather well...if you don't know how this film is going to end, that is.

We here, at The DVD Archive respect Bruce Davison, especially from his acting role as the Mayor in The X-Men Movie.  With a host of other films to his credit, Bruce has made his mark on many viewers across the spectrum of entertainment.  As with Shane Van Dyke, aka Dr. Mark Sloan in earlier seasons of Diagnosis Murder...and yes, he is Dick Van Dyke's Grandson.

The DVD Archive Rating:

6/10 [7/10 With the casting of Bruce Davison & Shane Van Dyke]
