Brief Note: Tomb Raider franchise, taking the story back to the beginning of Lara Croft’s journey and showing her rise to become “Tomb Raider”. A sacred artefact created by the ancient Mayan Civilization in Mexico hundreds of years ago, believed to hold the secrets behind the end of the Mayan calendar in 2012. With the family butler, Winston, educating her about everything he has learned from her Father about the Ascension Stone, Lara heads off to follow her first lead buried in an ancient mine deep in the heart of England. Once down there she discovers more than she had ever hoped for and soon realizes her Uncle has answers to questions she has been asking for a long time. Written by Anonymous.

Review: OK, we left “Tomb Raider Ascension” a good while before sitting down to watch, as there are so many leaked info “Bites” out there referring to Angelina Jolie, it is in this Fan Made version that we see Anna Tyrie playing Miss Lara Croft (Which is really nothing to do with the production of “Tomb Raider 3” movie that is rumoured to be released in mid to late 2012).

The film (this film “Tomb Raider Ascension”) may not be a huge budget, box office breaker in itself, but what we get from the storyline, which has been put together very well, is exactly what we should have been given from the start by the original Production Company. The gaps are filled in with “Ascension”, as is the mystery that surrounds Lara’s Mother, too, even though we don’t see her death.

Running for only an hour, there is a lot in this feature which makes it comfortably longer, while the special effects bring in some very stimulating action sequences. The dialogue script parts between Lara and her uncle are thought out well, as with the mannerisms and body language of Jackson – or Jax -, Lara’s personal trainer. Combined efforts with the Cast, Crew, Director and the Script make this film-short very well to a point where “Tomb Raider Ascension”, had it been given more on its budget could have made it even bigger for the franchise and be just as popular as the previous Lara Croft movies we have seen in the cinema’s.

DVD Archive Rating: 7/10 (8/10 if the film had been a lot longer)
