Full Synopsis Of This Episode: Warning! This Synopsis may contain spoilers from the episode.
We meet the orphans, Elena and Jeremy Gilbert who are living with their aunt Jenna in Mystic Falls, Virginia. Elena is adjusting to her new life by making entries in her journal in the local cemetery and hanging out with her friends Bonnie and Caroline. Jeremy, on the other hand, enjoys dealing drugs, getting high and chasing after Vicki Donovan who is more into Jeremy’s friend Tyler.
Stefan Salvatore has just arrived in town and he is living with his Uncle Zach who is always pushing him to stay out of trouble. Stefan is a vampire and has decided to live amongst humans in peace. He develops a liking for Elena who looks exactly like the woman he was with in 1864, Katherine.
Damon, Stefan’s brother, decides to come for a visit and is angry that Stefan has decided to no longer drink human blood. So he attacks Vicki and then fights with Stefan as well.
Stefan and Elena officially start developing a love interest in each other while Damon has his eyes set on Caroline.
The episode ends with Stefan going over to Elena’s house and getting invited in!
What DVD Archive Said:
The last time that any of us sat down and watched a TV Show like The Vampire Diaries, it was Moonlight. Though a lot of emphasis was put on The Twilight Saga, the plots and sub-plots imaged that of a very young Michael St. John.
Having only watched the first two episodes, we believe that the show has got great potential, as long as the formula is left to brew itself, if you know what we mean? So far we have been greeted with gore-horror in the very first ten minutes of the Pilot Episode (This may vary if you have an advanced screening copy), which introduces Elana Gilbert as the secondary writer of The Journal, next to Stefan Salvatore, the young, well sought after by the ladies kind of man that radiates doubt and suspicion, if only for a little while anyway. The Show is fresh in its approach to some key factor’s of the Vampire way, while at the same time delivering just enough gore-horror to wet even the most avid uncensored horror film fan would shake a trance-like state off to watch!
Admittedly, we had our doubts about this show, especially as certain other shows could not be ignored as being the respawn of; Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Moonlight & Angel. And, after just fifteen minutes into the Pilot do you actually realise that it’s a TV Show of its own, which deserves the respect that it is due! And, OK, people may say things that don’t do it any favours, but the ratings increase due to the storylines and plots has turned The Vampire Diaries into a new FAD!
Stars of the show aren’t complaining…and neither would I.
The DVD Archive are going to be keeping a very close eye on this series, and soon we will complete the review with an “All Season Rev”, which will be available on The DVD Archive soon.
